Rough Cut Two

Audience Research
Looking at what the audience had to say, we changes the things advised accordingly. We had plenty of good feedback. We have changed the majority of the footage from the original Rough Cut as we only really got bad feedback and changed accordingly, now the trailer appears more scary, and more professional, as said by the viewers.

Film Magazine Covers

These two are the final re-designs of our Magazine Covers. Originally, we had the model looking straight at the camera from over the shoulder, making her look innocent and vulnerable. This way, as we can cannot see much of her body from the front, we are left wondering if she has any secrets to hide, which did create a atmosphere of mystery. However, it did not give of the correct atmosphere, it looked more seductive than scared. We have now changed it to be a lower angle shot, with the model looking over the camera, this gives a sense of mystery as the viewer does not get to see what she is looking at and is so afraid from, this way it takes the omniscient feeling that a viewer normally would have, taking this feeling away is a classic example of a horror factor. Also, the way she is stood with her arms wrapped around her body, it gives her a strong sense of invulnerability, which makes the viewer connect with her more, makes the viewer want to look out for the protagonist, which makes you worry about her, which will then make you want to go and see the film, exactly what the magazine is trying to do. I personally prefer the first of the two shown above, the extra blood splatter at the bottom and the sides gives it a certain edge to it, a certain feeling of danger, what a horror film magazine should be showing.

Film Posters

These are the completed film posters. Instantly, you can see that there has been a radical change to design. Originally, we had the model in the centre of the image, therefore giving her the centre of attention. However, after audience feedback, we were told that the magazine did not represent the horror genre particularly well. So we re-designed the magazine cover, we made it so that the eye of the main antagonist was in the front of the frame. Personally, i like the first poster seen above, the glass shattered effect gives it a essence of mystery and creates an eerie atmosphere. I proposed the idea of having the main protagonist inside the eye, but in the end we decided not to go for this.

Audience Feedback

First Posters and Magazine Covers

This is the first design of the Magazine Cover and Film Poster. We made this over a series of weeks, attempting to recreate the horror posters/ magazine covers that we have seen countless times before. Upon finishing, we realised that it did not represent the horror genre particularly well. The poster does not give enough away, which can be quite intreguing for posters, but in this case, the viewer gets practically nothing. The same goes for the Magazine Covers. This is why we then set about working on the new designs.

Audience Feedback Research Rough Cut 1

After witnessing the audience feedback, we realised that we had to make dire changes to the trailer. We realised that we needed to change the majority of the trailer, as it wasnt creating the correct atmosphere for the chosen genre. It was not conveying the factors of a horror genre.

Rough Cut One

This is the first cut of my groups Indifference Trailer. We still have a few shots to film, as well as some editing decisions to make.

We have completely cut out some of the party sequences as they weren't good enough, and also they simply weren't good enough. There is a possibility that we will have to re shoot some footage, as well as more shots.

There is a good portion in the middle of the footage above that is blank, this is due me leaving a gap so that i would be aware of where more footage is needed.

Photoshoot

Shaun directing Kate where to look.
Me learning a few camera techniques from Shaun,

Starting to take the first shots.
Shaun taking his photos.

Final shots being taken.

Me giving Shaun some advise on a shot.

I think that this image works as it does not show Kates body particularly well. This way it gives a sense of mystery, also, we cannot see what she is looking at. this creates a lack of a omniscient feeling.

This one could work, as we see that she is quite scared and confused. We are led to believe that something is making her feel this way, but we are unsure as to what.

In this image, the viewer can gain an understanding of Kate, as she is looking straight at the camera, full eye contact with her head being on the top of the rule of thirds allows the viewer to get a real look into Kate and her emotions.

This is my personal favorite for the Magazine Cover, the lower angle shot gives Kate a small amount of power, this way we can see she is the main protagonist. The way she is stood with her arms wrapped around herself gives her a sense of vulnerability, which makes the viewer emphathise with her. We also dont know what she is looking at, at what is scaring her, which takes away the omniscient power the viewer tends to have when watching a film, which can be quite frightening - exactly what we want from the trailer and the magazine covers/ posters.

Evidence of Trailer Editing

This is the back end of our editing. I was including a effect called Bad TV which caused the image to shake and have the image appear to re create the old televisions that would happen in older days.

This was the very beginning of the editing, starting to work on the inter titles.

In this image, i was working on an effect called Earthquake that would make the inter title shake and appear unsettling.

In this image, i was working on the inter title and where it would situate in the footage.

here, i was working on the sound. I was trying to re-create a bang, which would cause the protagonist to spin around.
This is the image of me working on the footage as a whole. Cutting down the footage in order to create a two minute trailer.
