Logo Completion and Anaylsis

I began my design of the logo by creating the T and R - standing for Taylor and Race, the last names of my partner Shaun and myself. I made it so that the two letters were colours of a binary opposition nature - red and blue. The font i chose has slight dents in it where no colour exists, this will have a good effect when background colour is applied.

I later added a brush of swirls, again of the two colours red and blue. I did this in order to give the logo a personality almost. However, once i had applied it, i realised that it looked like just paint splatters that had been made by a child. This would be fine if i was making a childs television programme, but as we are making a horror trailer, i realised that this would be unacceptable, so i returned to only having the two letters and add a different effect.

I decided to add a fade, from the top right hand corner to the bottom left hand corner. This way it creates a feeling of mystery from the darkness. It also makes the gaps in the writing look apparent, making them looking hollow and see through, this idea works as the parts that are filled in colour really stand out as contrast to the areas not covered in colour. I have also made the "Productions" of the same font.
I have planned to make the letters being in the center of the screen, therefore the viewers eyes go straight to the logo.

My final product is as follows;

I have faced many problems in the logo creation, I am not personally familiar with Photoshop, or at least not in comparison to my partner Shaun, therefore we have decided to use his logo, as seen below, for the trailer.

Logo Ideas

The logo on the left is my interpretation of our own production company, Taylor Race Productions, and the logo the right is the New Line Cinema Logo.

We have taken the idea to use a light and dark background, from one side to another, for our own, from right to left, for New Line Cinema in to out. We have also decided to place the main participant of the company in the centre.

One thing we will need to change, is to make the logo more eye catching, currently it looks quite plain, as opposed to the New Line Cinema logo, which is more in your face.
